We loved it. The meadow is beautiful and during our week in May we awoke to the sound of cookoos every morning - joy. We were in the smaller Yurt which was really warm and comfortable. David was really available and bought us wood for the fire when we needed. Classic camping and a wonderful escape from the city! Thanks David.

This is a beautiful natural location, peaceful, with access to the river for swimming. Andy and his partner are so lovely and welcoming, and great thought has been given to providing little touches to make your stay more comfortable - including a great little kitchen area and communal areas to have fires or barbecues. Perfect!

We had a lovely stay at the Chalet. Hot tub was lovely and warm with music hook up. The chalet was really cosy and nice hot shower. The garden was lovely and my son enjoyed the rope swing, playing with the cat and building a fire. Hope to come again! Crantock beach with free parking for National Trust members is nearby.

We had an amazing stay here at Andy’s campsite! Such a chilled out and beautiful area with great fire facilities and camping equipment if needed. There’s so much to do in the area and is in a great location to visit places such as cheddar gorge. Great value and would happily come and stay again.

We spent a night at this lovely campsite with our two children, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The location is beautifully set by a picturesque river, which added a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere to our stay. The facilities were clean and well-maintained — the toilet and shower block were conveniently close by, and the small shared kitchenette was particularly handy. It’s well-suited for washing up, boiling a kettle, and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee. There’s also a communal fridge, which was very useful for storing a few essentials. The pitch itself was level and spacious, and we felt very comfortable and safe throughout. A great spot for a short family break, and we’d certainly consider returning for a longer stay next time. Weekend Trip to The Secret Garden

Thanks Sheryl for a beautiful weekend, we had the most special 21st celebrations! The site is great really spacious and the utilities are ideal, meant we could cater for 11 of us. Has everything you’d want with the fire pit and hot tub! Sheryl was great as well, super welcoming and helpful, sorted out any issues we had immediately. Location is sweet too, we walked and bussed into town both were easy. And nice ducks!

1 night at Riverside Restful Relaxing Campsite

Lovely place, very serene spot near the river and easy to get to Avalon Marshes and Brent Knoll. Great for a little swim in the river and sitting around in the evening enjoying the birdsong. Only one other van when we were there (a Sunday night) so it was very quiet. The little kitchen was nice for washing up and would be great for cooking if it was a rainy day! There is a road nearby but it's not very busy and there was no noise at all at night. Currently only one toilet and shower but both were clean and worked well, and they were installing more. Andy was lovely and welcoming, and the general vibe was very chilled. Thanks a lot, we will be back!

Only booked for one night but will definitely be booking again and for longer Outstandingly beautiful views with the river and greenery- not only were the employees so lovely and welcoming but everyone else staying was as well and I know it's because all felt relaxed, and connected. 100% recommend 100% will be back 100% will be getting the bbq again and next time will try the pizza Amazing!!

We had such a lovely, peaceful stay at Jonathan’s. Our pitch was perfectly tucked away with a wonderful view of the river. Our three year old loved exploring and seeing the chickens and ducks roaming around the farm. Fresh eggs for breakfast were very much enjoyed! Jonathan was a brilliant host, friendly and helpful and great communication. Would highly recommend for a peaceful get away if you like a simple wild camping set up. The location is magical, we hope to return one day soon!

It’s a beautiful, quiet campsite by the river. There were lots of spring blossoms when I went. The shower and toilet facilities were well maintained and the kitchen looked good too. Andy was really friendly. It would be a great place for cycling as it is very flat. The river was also calm for paddleboarding and swimming (at your own risk).

Wild camping at Emmetts on Exmoor

Emmetts on Exmoor is part of the highest farm on the moor, up at an altitude of 1250 feet with gorgeous views out over the surrounding scenery of the national park. You won't find a better place for spotting wildlife right from your tent! Red deer herds regularly frequent the moor which is opposite your pitch. Other wildlife in the area include cuckoos, woodpeckers, golden plovers, foxes and much more! This is a place that’s big on space but small on guest numbers, so there’s always plenty of space around to soak up the rural atmosphere, spot wildlife and play games. It’s worth noting that Exmoor National Park was designated Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve back in 2011, so you should hopefully be in for spectacular displays of stars by night too. Unsurprisingly, this is a great area for walks and mountain bike rides; other activities in the area include things like fishing, sailing and pony trekking. If you’ve still got any energy left after that little lot, the farm’s all-weather tennis court is available to hire for a game or two. There is a proper shower and loo available next to the car parking area and all pitches are approximately a 500 metre walk away from this area through woodland and across pasture. Remember the site is off-grid so it’s a good idea to remember to bring along a torch. Guests are welcome to bring along a barbecue or hire a firepit and purchase wood onsite. You can also buy fresh free-range eggs from the farm’s hens so a good breakfast should be on the cards too. Exford and Withypool (both within 15 minutes) have good village shops for picking up any other supplies you might need plus tea rooms and pubs. The Poltimore Arms and The Exmoor Forest Inn are two very local pubs that are well worth a visit.

We are on the Somerset levels so the sunsets are amazing as well as night time stargazing. We have a private, wooden jetty where you can launch your own paddle board. It’s a perfect get away for campers and nature lovers. Bring your own raised BBQs and logs or buy firewood on site. A family run campsite around 30 miles south of Bristol on the banks of the River Brue, it has a relaxed vibe and we try to keep things simple and straight forward.
