We had a brilliant few days camping at Ted’s farm. Ted was very welcoming, helpful and even let us feed the little lambs! The views of the hills from the campsite and stars at night were beautiful. It was a wonderfully peaceful and quiet place, but still close enough to neighbouring villages for food/drinks. Couldn’t recommend this spot more!

It was as expected and more. What a great spot! Toilets, open fire, quiet. Looking forward to making it a yearly tradition. We stayed for 1 night as it was the first camping experience for my 7 and 12 yr old sons. They enjoyed the hike and the tinned food, burnt sausages, Basic rural living, no fuss. The site is what i come to love about the peak district. If all you want is a spot to pitch up, a great one.

A Little Slice of Peace – Highly Recommend! Stayed here for just one night and it was exactly what I needed. The owner, Ted, was incredibly friendly and made me feel instantly welcome—like visiting an old friend. The landscape is absolutely beautiful, with animals roaming freely and adding to the peaceful, natural vibe. It’s the kind of place that slows you down in the best way. I only wish I’d stayed longer! This was a lovely area for our tent camping. There was a beautiful outlook onto the surrounding farms. There were lots of amenities to make the stay comfortable including a clean bio toilet, warm shower and a small hut to cook in, especially useful when raining. The camping field was clean and tidy with a swing and benches in the middle for picnicing. The field wasnt too big.u just turn up pitch your tent and no one bothers you at all. So quiet and peaceful with lovely veiws. No noise at night which was great. You can take a dog as long as you keep it on a lead. Theres 2 toilets with washhand basins in .its cold water but u can always boil a kettle and there urinals for the men. Theres washing up sinks there and also a fresh water tap in the field.people were friendly but left you to do your own thing. Theres logs to buy and fire pit if you want one. I loved the peacefulness of this campsite.i would recomend it to anyone and i will come back if i get the opportunity. Janice and Paul the site owner are very helpful and obliging .very nice people. The site is near Buxton ,Matlock and Bakewell if your driving.

Close to the A66 & M6 by Penrith, so good place to be based for exploring the area. Site clean and tidy, super laid back, a bit rustic and quirky... in a nice way. Friendly people and dog! Free use of on site fridge/freezer and kettles, toilets and shower clean. Nice out door seating area/s with fire pits/bbq's. Glamping pods/tents and caravans looked interesting...! We stayed in my campervan..

Authentic old school camping! Bring your own tent and stay in one our lovely private pitches. Our pitches are big enough to park your car and pitch a large family tent with plenty of space for sitting and BBQs. Our site is off grid so you will be provided with plenty of fresh water in containers. There are compost toilets dotted around the site which are cleaned daily and there is firewood and charcoal available to buy. We also have a little honesty shop selling a few bits and pieces that campers often forget to pack. The mushroom farm feels more like wild camping or a pioneers camp. It is not a manicured site so we recommend bringing an airbed for a comfortable sleep. But a positive you’ll be sharing it with wildlife – frequent visitors include songbirds, red kites, kestrels, owls, bats, lizards, frogs and toads, snakes, rabbits and hares, muntjac deer, mice, foxes, dragonflies, butterflies, moths and beetles… The camp is set on a mushroom farm with young trees and large areas left to rewild. This means flowering thistles and uneven ground so it may not be suitable for babies, very young children or people with health conditions. The 2025 camping season at the Mushroom farm is from Friday the 23rd of May until Sunday the 22rd of June. We are then closed for a few weeks but open again from Friday the 18th of July until Sunday the 17th of August.

At a crossroads in the village of East Kirkby, The Red Lion has been refreshing travellers since 1841; more recently, it was a favoured watering hole for the men and women of Bomber Command in World War II, and the pub’s décor pays tribute to them. The staff are steeped in the history of the old coaching inn and the nearby airfield, and can point you towards the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, 10 minutes’ walk down the road and on the site of the former Royal Air Force base. The Red Lion makes a splendid base for aviation and wartime history buffs, with the heritage centre nearby and the displays and memorials of the International Bomber Command Centre a 45-minute drive away. As it’s on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and around half an hour's drive from the coast, it’s also well placed for walks, stately home visits and wildlife watching. Most importantly, it’s at the back of a friendly pub (which has varied winter and summer opening days and hours, but is always closed on Mondays). It serves hot food alongside local beers and other refreshing tipples. Canine companions are welcome in the bar (it’d be nice if they bought a drink…) and on the site.
