We really enjoyed our stay at this property! The amenities were great, and the peaceful, quiet atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax—especially after a long day exploring Yosemite. I only wish we could have stayed longer, but we’re already hoping to book another trip in the future. Robb was very responsive to all of our questions and made everything easy. We had a great time!

Weekend Trip to Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite

We stayed in Cabin2 and it was so great. The view is INCREDIBLE and the bed was very comfy. This was my first experience "glamping" and it was really easy. Lisa provides very thorough instructions/information - as long as you read her notes, you will have a lovely stay in the A-Frames. Be sure to bring some sort of bug repellant :) and enjoy getting off the grid!

This was such an amazing stay! Liza and Tom were very responsive to our messages, and when we needed some help with our fire pit, Marty came and helped us out and was a hoot to chat with. The camp is only 30 minutes from the entrance to Yosemite Valley, 6 minutes away from a gorgeous river and swimming hole, and 20 minutes from Groveland, which was perfect for a little night out when we weren’t wanting to fire up the camp stove. The bathrooms are some of the best I’ve ever seen in my 25 years of camping, and the campground was very well kept. We would definitely come back here again, even if we weren’t planning on making a trip into the park. Thank you Liza, Tom, and the whole team at Sierra Mac River Trips!

A Peaceful Mountain Escape – Just What We Needed After Yosemite We absolutely loved our stay at Red Tail Ranch. After long days of hiking in Yosemite, it was the perfect peaceful retreat to return to. The hour-long drive from Yosemite Valley to the ranch was actually part of the experience—we enjoyed winding down through the scenic forest roads, watching the light change across the mountains. By the time we pulled into the ranch each evening, we felt completely at ease. The property is beautiful and thoughtfully maintained. We especially fell in love with the outdoor shower and composting toilets—there’s something magical about showering under the open sky after a dusty day on the trails. The peaceful, rustic charm of Red Tail Ranch made us feel connected to nature in a way we don’t get to experience often. One unexpected highlight? The turkey sanctuary! It was such a delight to see the turkeys strutting around, living their best lives. It added an extra layer of charm and serenity to an already unforgettable place. If you’re looking for a quiet, rejuvenating base after exploring Yosemite, Red Tail Ranch is it. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming about coming back

5 nights at Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite

Cabin 1 was the perfect getaway for my girlfriend and I! The cabin was super comfortable and private, not to mention the gorgeous surrounding view. The showers and bathrooms across the street were convenient and clean. In addition, the cabin is only an hour drive from Yosemite Valley, so traveling back and forth was not an issue at all. Liza and Tom were excellent hosts and we cannot thank them enough for our experience. They responded to all of our messages within 5-10 minutes and assisted us upon request. 10/10 would recommend!

I organized a group trip for a milestone birthday and this spot could not have been better! We rented all 4 spots on Shandie & Jesse's property. Lower Falls is an amazing camp site, especially if you want to gather a larger group. We had 3 families set up at this site for the weekend, and there was plenty of space. The views are outstanding -- amazing place to watch the sunset. And the entire property is out-of-this-world amazing and Shandie and Jessie could not have been kinder and more helpful hosts.

This was awesome! View of stars at night and sunrise in the morning from inside was incredible. Their bathhouse was very clean. 1 hour from Yosemite valley, but seemed like almost any accommodation outside the park was the same drive time. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Yosemite and recommend to friends!

I loved tent camping at this place. The location was great. Stayed here for my Yosemite trip. It’s under two hour drive to get to Yosemite which isn’t terrible, considering every campsite near Yosemite was either closed or booked. I met Tom on the last day I was there and he was a really great guy even invited me River rafting last minute. Unfortunately, I had to come back home, but will need to book that for my next trip. Lastly, the amenities were nice especially if you bring a 3 year old with you like we did. Highly recommend. Will be coming back.

This is one of 3 gold claims I have here in the Yosemite area. This particular site is in one of the nicer areas of the national forest as it is in an area that has not been hit by wildfire recently. There are two camping sites on this claim one is a roundabout with a giant redwood in the center of the circle the other is right off the side of the road with easy access no matter what kind of rig you are driving. As a registered mining claim owner I or anyone with my permission can camp and prospect on the claim for up to 14 days consecutively… I will not be around the area as I live in San Diego and come up about once a month to one of them.. I ask that you leave the property as nice as you found it remember this is a national park and everyone wants to enjoy the beauty of nature.

You are welcome to bring a pan or a sluice box and keep any gold you recover on any of my claims. Dredging is currently restricted in California without a permit so please keep within the laws.

Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

Bridgeport Reservoir Campground

Bridgeport Reservoir is a lake at the lower end of Bridgeport Valley in Mono County, California. Its earth-filled dam was constructed in 1923 by the Walker River Irrigation District, along the East Walker River. The campground and marina was built I-don't-know-how-long ago, but it sure is nice! About Us: Welcome to Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground. Join us for the classic camping and fishing experience with unique views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Within the Toiyabe National Forest, Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground is conveniently located near two distinct hot spring areas. A true angler's paradise, the Reservoir has excellent trout fishing from spring through fall and is close by to multiple rivers for incredible fly fishing. A 35 minute drive on highway 120 will take you to the Tioga Pass Gate of Yosemite National Park. This gate is a great start to several different areas inside of the park that you may want to visit beyond that gate. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town. Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal. Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

If you are a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit. Guests have 20 acres to find a secluded, or socially distanced spot to pitch camp. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry - Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120.
