Deep in the Texas Hill Country, this 14 acre property is located 16 miles from Fredericksburg and Comfort, 12 miles from Luckenbach, and 2.5 miles from Old Tunnel State Park and the popular Alamo Springs Cafe. There are numerous wineries nearby. The terrain is hilly with several flat areas suitable for camping, including the grassy meadow and the woods. The property has seasonal creeks, swimming holes that fill up after a rainy season, hills, views, cliffs, and an ancient live oak tree. The area is a haven for a diverse range of birds and wildlife including axis and whitetail deer, fox, rabbit, armadillo, hawk, and the elusive ringtail cat. The abundant limestone formations, typical of Central Texas, are remnants of the ancient sea that covered Texas in the Mesozoic era, 250 million years ago when dinosaurs roamed. The Woods is a long flat wooded area surrounded by a wet weather creek on one side and a hill on the other. Guests must be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Please note: This site is at the bottom of the hill, about 200 yards from the parking area. Getting there requires a hike down to the site. There are two trails to get there, one of them being shorter, but steeper and more rugged than the other. Hiking shoes are recommended. There are no utilities at the site, so bring a flashlight and any other supplies you might need. There are water faucets and power outlets in the parking area.

The trail to the site is a little steep and rugged in one area. Hiking shoes are recommended. There are no utilities at the site, so bring a flashlight and any other supplies you might need.
