This property has been in my family since 1900. It is still a working farm/ranch but we are looking to let a select few others enjoy our property. My grandfather built the lake with a d9 cat bulldozer in the 50's and we are just completing a sediment clean out and refurbishment of the lake. All of the trees were planted by my great grandfather and they afford lots of wildlife cover; wild turkeys, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, etc. The area we selected for camping is in a bowl so you have good privacy. The lake is stocked for fishing and because its private, no license is needed. The fishing hole and swimming hole are separate from the main lake and offer cheaper accommodations. We limit ourselves to 2 campsites to the 100 acres, so there is plenty of privacy. There is some road noise and smell from the local dairy that is about 1/2 mile away if the wind is right. Simple private camp spot - there is a swimming/fishing hole with dock and ladder. There is a year round creek and some small islands that can be explored. Fire pit, portapotty and propane grill are available. Potable water and sewage dump is available at main residence but not at camp site. This is designed to be a family friendly area that's great for younger kids. Area is also a pasture so cows and cow patties could be encountered and wild deer and turkey are around. If you have a larger family than 4 remember hipcamps policy is that younger children do not count towards the limit.

 3 acre lake with fish, island for campfires, creek area with wetlands and trees, large livestock friendly; horses, lamas, etc, pets allowed on leash, fenced off camping spot but the rest is shared area with cows so there are cow patties around, farming and ranching operations may take place during the stay, main area is secluded and private, coyotes and raccoons all around (they will raid your site if not properly cleaned up), very little cell service,  private outhouse, potable water available at property entrance (must bring own container), sewer dump available at property entrance, rv's need good ground clearance to access site. paddle and row boats available or you can bring your own human powered boat, no motors of any kind allowed. ideal for a small family who want to get out of denver or front range for a weekend. remember hipcamps children policy, kids do not count for the linit on campers, only adults       there is some road noise, and cow smells if you can tolerate the above and want solitude and no other campers around then you will be happy here.

The host’s were great and welcoming. Their land is very peaceful and secluded which is nice if you just want to disconnect for a little while. Pretty bad cell service but that’s what we needed so it worked out. The fishing pond and the lake were both very pretty and we caught a bunch of bass. Overall, a very good experience and we are already planning our next trip out!

We love Brian and Melody‘s lake and go at least once a year since they started on Hipcamp. They are thoughtful and incredibly accommodating. The lake has all the animal and water activity one would want! See you again soon!

Another wonderful weekend at Wentz’s Family Farm. We stayed in the RV at the fishing hole. We’ve previously camped at both the fishing hole and the lake. The farm is a beautiful place to spend time either fishing and boating in the lakes or just relaxing by a camp fire, this place will definitely help you relax. This last visit we decided to stay in the RV. The nights are a bit chilly and the RV is heated. It’s a cute and comfortable RV with a little kitchen. We enjoyed the stay and look forward to a few more outings at the farm throughout the summer.

Wentz Family Farm definitely gets a spot on our Hipcamp Favorites List! When we arrived, we met Brian and Melody. After filling our freshwater tank at the entrance to their property we were given the fresh eggs that we added to our booking (highly recommend!) and were allowed to pick fresh veggies. A fun time and they were so generous! We were shown to the campsite and given all the information we needed for a smooth stay. The site was wonderful. Lots of grassy areas to relax in, trees for shade, a stocked pond to fish, and although we didn’t use them this time, a rowboat and kayaks were available. When it was time to leave (didn’t want to!) there was a convenient dump station complete with tank flush hose on the way out. We look forward to coming back next year!

We wanted to get away from the city for a couple days and look at the stars. We got that, and so much more! Not only did we get to see some of the Milky Way, but we also enjoyed farm fresh eggs, veggies our kids got to help pick, boating, campfires, and the farm dogs. The hosts were incredibly generous, taking us to see the cows and beaver dams, but we also had our own private space. The cooking structure was a nice touch to make meal prep easier than a normal tent camping experience. There were other nice touches as well: The porta potty was filled with saw dust, minimizing the smell. There is one water spigot for use on the property, so bring a water jug to make your life easier, but while getting water be sure to pet Bob Dog. Beautiful skies. Lovely ponds. Generous hosts. Opportunities to see a glimpse into farm life, while also witnessing the impacts of water rights cases. Recommend if you're looking to get away a rough it for a bit.

We had a great time at the Wentz farm! Brian met us when we arrived and was very welcoming. On the way to showing us to our campsite we stopped at the abundant vegetable gardens on the farm and Brian offered us fresh veggies to take with us. What a treat! There was firewood cut and available, a very clean porta potty and even a spot for trash. The area was very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed visits from a flock of wild turkeys (right thru our campsite!), a few deer, and the resident cows. Brian even stopped by on our last day to offer more veggies which we happily accepted! Brian told us to explore wherever we wanted and we had a nice time wandering thru this beautiful property. The fishing hole is a great spot for families with kayaks and a dock and some very active bullfrogs. And for those RVer’s, there is even potable water and a dump available! We are definitely glad we made the trip to the Wentz farm. Thanks Brian and Melody for sharing your home with us!

Very nice people.who run the place! My buddy bought the farm fresh eggs and veggies! They were amazing! Also had more veggies and eggs than we knew what to do with! Quiet and peaceful. If you like fishing, the lake has lots of fish! Easy fishing! Catch and release only but still fun! Also has the ability to paddle around on a Kayak or boat. Which is fun too! Overall, it's a Great place and great views of the sky. Ran by very nice people! Another big plus is the porta potties didn't stink! Will be coming back in the future!

Our family of 5 had a wonderful experience! My boys loved fishing and the row boats were a hit. The hosts were amazing and even brought us fresh veggies from their garden. I highly recommend this property.

This was our second stay at The Wentz Family Farm. It was just as great as the first. We stayed at the lake. It was quiet and serene. The kids had a great time rowing the boat and fishing. Brian even took some time out of his morning to help the kids set up a teepee at the camp site. Both times we’ve stayed at the farm I’ve slept the best I have in a while. We will definitely book another weekend. I’m looking forward to harvest time so we can pick up a bag of their fresh produce.

Loved our time together there. Myself and my four year old son enjoyed catching bass and bluegill out of their pond. Privacy was really nice, great farm fresh eggs and produce as well. Would recommend to anyone with little campers.

What an amazing place to camp! We took a pop-up and had great shade under the cottonwood trees. We swam, fished, kayaked, bbq’d, had campfires and soaked up all the wildlife and the farm life, with the cows grazing by our site at different times during the day. In this well stocked fishing hole we caught & released small mouth bass, large mouth bass, perch, and crappie. Our dogs had an absolute blast in the swimming hole and at this well fenced, large camp site. There is another lake you can access by foot and/or camp at if you prefer…and if someone was camping there we would never have heard or seen them until we walked over to the lake or they walked over to the fishing/swimming hole. Both sites are incredibly private! We were about 14 minutes drive to Fort Morgan. Brian was an outstanding host! Without question, we would most definitely camp here again! Loved it!

This campsite was a lot of fun! There was plenty of room to explore but our favorite part was the kayaks. Brian was very hospitable, he checked on us each day to check our trash, bring us eggs, and even took our kids to explore the other lake. Would definitely stay again.

Melody greeted me during a thunderstorm and took me to the site…. I was so glad to get parked and get in my trailer! Count me in as a big chicken! Brian came by later, post storm and offered further assistance. It is very quiet, and the best thing is not sitting 10 ft. from another trailer. It is rustic, but I was okay with that. This was my first time using Hipcamp, the price listed is not the price you pay, be prepared for an additional $15-20 extra fee.

We had a great time camping at the fishin hole! Loved the privacy and serenity. There is a Hipcamp ID sign at the beginning of the driveway but I wish there was another sign by the house so we felt more comfortable going to the front door. Overall a great experience!

Perfect Private Getaway!!

We chose this location as a getaway from our newfound city life, and we will definitely be coming back!! We had so much fun fishing, boating, grilling, and just relaxing by the lake. The scenery is beautiful, this site is very secluded, gated in, but easy to get into and out of. The drive in is easy, and the hosts showed us where everything was and gave a great rundown of everything! We loved seeing the cows so close, you can hear the frogs croak as it gets dark, and some road noise, but not enough to ruin your peace!! Lots of fish to catch, we caught a few big Bass, a lot of medium bass and other fish, and caught a giant Catfish. The boats that were provided were in good condition and so fun to float around the lake! The grill worked great and we loved the fire pit! Brian and Melody were so helpful, they made sure we had plenty of firewood and propane, and even gave us some farm fresh eggs! We didn’t see any other animals, I would say this site is very family friendly and safe. There is easy access to the bathroom, the fire, and the dock! The easy access to the water, boats, resources, and the help that the hosts gave us would make this site a must-visit!
