I loved camping on this land. It's in a gorgeous place for views. The sunrise was amazing. It's a massive plot of land.
You have to take a moment to locate the right chain link fence/gate, as there are two that actually close off the dry riverbed the land is next to. But it's no problem at all, and it's pretty clear from the type of lock: the gate to Camp Baller has a newer padlock with a digital keypad with nine #s and a key symbol. Easy! We had the combination sent to us ahead of time and found the whole process very simple. The gate goes take a little strength to move, but not much.
I'd camp here again anytime!

I did not end up staying on Thomas’s land due to inadequate directions and poor communication. I noted after receiving booking confirmation that the instructions for finding and accessing the property were incomplete and vague (no actual street address was provided). Thomas communicated with me via the app and provided his direct phone number for me to give him a call for further instruction. I responded back that I would and in my mind, I thought I would give a call closer to our arrival time (I shared that it would be after 9pm at the same time), but Thomas requested that I call him again in the app so I did. I was on a stretch of I-10 with spotty cell coverage when we spoke and I advised Thomas of such and that I was only getting every other word of the instructions he was giving me. He advised that he was away from the property and would text me with “all the details” which included a mention of coordinates. By the time we arrived I had received no further communication from Thomas. The property was described as being directly across the street from a high school and we could not identify a gate that would access any property as described in the area around the school. I was able to have a phone call with Thomas at that time and I found it difficult to follow what he was telling me. When seeking clarification on what he was saying (things like “wait, is it a left or a right because I heard both?”) he assured me again he would text me the coordinates. We never received coordinates, only a vague street address that took us down the street from the high school but still didn’t put us in front of a gate to enter a code and access property. I attempted to call Thomas again but instead was texted the same address and gate code again accompanied with a bathroom selfie and mention that he was preparing to take a shower. He then followed that with yet another picture of himself apparently performing on a stage to brag about how he plays Coachella every year. (I could not be more uninterested and unimpressed by this). I only wanted to find his land to set up camp and get some rest. After searching further and attempting to call Thomas again without success, we gave up and I informed him via text that we would be seeking other accommodation. The following day Thomas began texting me again around lunchtime. The short of that is that he called me a “weirdo” for not being able to find the property. I ended up blocking him on my phone. This is honestly my experience. Take what you want from this before deciding to book here. Maybe with some improved instructions and offering an ability to assist vs. talk about himself, Thomas could be a good host, but his personality and communication style is not for me. Good luck!

Beautiful views and sunset!! This is an open dirt lot with a lot of options for parking. Thomas opened the gate for me ahead of time and I made myself at home. There is a firepit one can use as well. I felt a little out there (it was just me and my son) but overall safe. It is parking on private land, not far from the main road and closed to the high school. Great for the price for a quick stop! Will definitely keep it in mind again. :-)
