What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell. The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving. All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away. And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all. Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

The views are also nothing short of lush: the site is surrounded by wide open fields, and walks can be had without needing to get in the car towards the nearest settlement of Wardlow and up to Hay Cop (20 minutes on foot) for a look over the local landscape. If you’d rather dig into dessert than dawdle, the tarts and puddings of countrywide renown are at Bakewell, the only market town in the Peak District and a 15-minute drive from the site. Not too stuffed to think about stocking up on supplies after sampling the wares? Food stores are here too and other urban areas worth a wander for chocolate-box houses and cutesy craft shops include Tideswell, Castleton, Bamford and Chatsworth, all within 20 minutes. Plenty other activities can be had in these towns too: Tideswell’s got the impressive St John the Baptist Church to have a gander at; Castleton’s known for its caverns where the famed Blue John stone is mined, and Bamford has three different dams to trek around. Chatsworth, meanwhile, is home to swanky stately mansion Chatsworth House – yep, that one mentioned in Pride and Prejudice and regularly voted Britain's top country house.

Basic, quiet campsite with good, clean basic facilities. Easy to locate & beautiful views in every direction. I really enjoyed a couple of days here. My dog enjoyed it too!

Great spot brilliant facility's and views. Friday we arrived pitched up no one came to great us or even speak to us which I found strange. We had rhe whole site to just us and the dogs. We planned on a night hike the friday and mam tor sunrise and sleep for a few hours when back Saturday morning. But someone had other plans and decided to build a wall right next to are camping spot so all we could hear was hammering which wasn't the best. Saturday around 60 people arrived from a college and took over the field so wasn't as peaceful as we had hoped.

Nice location, Flat ground, good for camping Seemed somewhat over priced if one person in a car as the facilities were very basic - I love basic camp sites but this is on the more expensive side when a single camper - probably good value for families though,

Great little campsite. It had a portable shower block and toilets, but these were clean and stocked. I'm sure it gets busier, but it felt there was enough toilets to the number of campers. The campsite is a 15 minute drive from Bakewell with all the sugary pudding delights and coffee shops you can ask for.

Poor facilities - 3 toilets per gender for masses of people. They smelt, unpleasant and old fashioned. Showers were like portaloo’s, horrible fine wide spray and all your clothes get soaked. Overcrowded, not particularly scenic even without cars and tents everywhere . Large groups of rowdy people, nowhere for kids to play away from tents or explore. Avoid!

We really enjoyed our time on Jackie’s land. Communication with the host was excellent and they provided us with a fire pit to purchase as soon as we asked. Amenities were ideal and location is fantastic for exploring the peaks.

well, place is lovely, but it might be much better! It is overcrowded a lot, uncontrolled amount of visitors and everyone is pitching on other's head. While you go for a walk - someone can put their camp tent just into your entrance and be poker face. On top of that - start playing rounders and throwing ball into your tent. super cheeky families. No one from owners is near pitches, lady over phone just saying "it is camping experience" and "I'll check tomorrow". Guess what? Nobody come tomorrow. She even didn't ask how to find me/others, what is the tent and etc, not interested at all. Toilets and shower are clean but cleaned by group of teenagers and who can't say where is the manager of the camp site. Cold water in shower until you call and argue about that. wonderful. I would definitely not recommend it especially for weekend, as it is overbooked for sure and owners do not give any sense to it, just making money. which is okay, but please just organise it, reduce amount of people. Also strangers are all the time around camp site advertising restaurants in local areas. Check-in process is just made me laugh - it says at "evening" but a guy coming at random time giving some numbers to random tents skipping some of those and just don't pay any attention. So overall - super bad managed and organized. I think this camp should be managed by teenagers who clean toilets, they will do it from their heart at least.

Lovely location, only 10 mins drive from Bakewell + loads of lovely hiking trails near by. Unfortunately there was no hot water on the campsite and was very over booked and crowded as the whole campsite isn’t very big. There was also an ‘event’ in the other field who were extremely loud at 1am. On our first night there was nobody to buy firewood from which was a nightmare, messaged the owner with no reply. I think running hot water should be included considering the price of this site, but unfortunately that’s not the case.

Very clean facilities and friendly staff, overall a nice small and affordable site for a short or long stay. Plus it’s also a short drive from a couple of small towns and obviously also a short drive for a nice walk through the peaks.

Beautiful views and skylarks singing. Nice grassy pitch , quite exposed to wind ( moderate breeze felt very windy but ground is good for pegging out. Clean showers and loos, water point clearly marked. Friendly and efficient communication both by email and phone.

In the nicest way possible It was wasn’t for us Infact We didn’t stay…. We found another site about 7 miles away….. We like space Peace And this was over crowded And we had no real space to chill Just not what we like ….

We stayed 2 nights in a campervan. Lovely site, clean showers and toilets with hot water. Good location for exploring the local area. We will definitely be booking again. Top tip if you want to have a drink in the local pub take cash as they don’t have a card machine

A little on the pricey side for what you get, I have been to comparable sites for half as much £10 per night. That being said the toilets and showers were cleaned regularly with nice views of the surrounding area.

amazing campsite! such beautiful views and you can choose where you want to camp in the field. great hot showers and clean toilets. left names of places and things to do in the area which was super helpful and great! such a nice stay and easy to find. would highly recommend
