Quirky eco-friendly glamping ideal for a rural road-trip
Tipsy Tree’s namesake is an old oak, standing at a jaunty angle within the Cheshire glamping site’s acres of farmland. After surviving a lightning strike (a nearby ash tree wasn’t so fortunate), the odd-looking tree served as the inspiration behind the name of this tranquil rural retreat, with it being perfectly reflective of the site’s quirky disposition.

Tipsy Tree consists of three forms of accommodation — Ryeland Yurt, Hereford Yurt, and Pheasant Lodge. Each is tucked away within the countryside that envelopes hosts Jane and Jim’s working farm, and each prioritises a peaceful holiday for couples and small families alike. Eco-friendly and off-grid though with comforts such as private hot showers, loos, and cosy log burners in the yurts and wood-fired hot tubs in all units this is a site focused on letting its guests enjoy a slice of the simple life; escaping to the country without the need to pitch up a tent and worry about using the bathroom near other guests.

The yurts and lodge are located within their own secluded space on the land, at least 50 metres away from each other, with their own private walkways ensuring you won’t bump into other visitors also looking to escape the hustle and bustle. Your closest neighbours may actually be the animals that call this land their home, with the sheep even occasionally being used as ‘lawnmowers’, as Jane describes it, to happily trim down the grass surrounding the site.

While Tipsy Tree is a great location for those looking to venture into the quiet of the country, it’s also ideally suited for anyone wanting a scenic stopover while travelling down the M6. Just two miles from Junction 16, the site’s close proximity to the motorway makes it a perfect destination for those embarking on a British road trip, nestled between the villages of Weston and Barthomley and within walking distance of various pubs. Or, if you’re in the mood for a spot of adventure to break up the rural relaxation, you’ll find Jim’s Explore Off Road business just across the road, offering pre-booked 4x4 off-road driving experiences to guests. This is surely one pit-stop you won’t forget in a hurry!

Tipsy Tree glamping is set on a small working farm Snape bank. We have a suckler herd of Hereford cattle and breed pedigree Ryeland sheep there is a small flock of hens with fresh free range eggs to be found for sale at our gate in the honesty box.Our farm now farmed by us Jim and Jane, has been farmed by 3 generations of the same family over many years with Jim's Family moving here during the 2nd world war and his father handing the reins over in the mid 1980's. After a family discussion we decided to name the site after a much loved tree in our big field which has a fabulous story and does lean somewhat. With 2 black and white pubs both called The White lion and both just over a mile away in opposite directions we are ideal for country walks. This is an ideal for those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life to relax, unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our perfect rural retreat,or stop off to break up long journeys for folks travelling up and down the M6 as we are some 2 miles from Junction 16.
