Weekend Trip to Middle Camp & Stay- Berry Springs

Absolutely loved our stay at middle camp. 5 mins from the hot springs, our camp 1 was a great little patch of secluded, private and peaceful little patch of grass amongst the beautiful bushland . Came for 1 & stayed for 2, has everything you need, toilet, shower, washing machine, fire pit and wood. Highly recommend!!

Site 1 was nice and private with no one else coming past. The whole family loved it and are looking forward to coming back. Nice and close to Berry Springs for a swim, local IGA and pub. Highly recommended!

Camping 10 mins from city centre where you feel like your in the bush and can see no other campers even though there is a few around you. What’s not to like?! Power , flat sites, beautiful drinking water, shady , small pool for a dip , washing machine ($4), and super clean amenities. Doesn’t get any better. Plus a super hospitable host with excellent recommendations for all things Darwin. If you don’t seriously consider this to a cramped overlit caravan park then why travel? Perfect campsite for anyone travelling to Darwin. Thanks Pete and Troy

Jean & John's Bynoe Stopover

The property is 40 acres of carefully maintained virgin rainforest. Our flora and fauna are exactly the same as nearby Litchfield National Park, unfortunately without any waterfalls. We have cleared about 10 acres of undergrowth leaving the trees for shade. Animals and other wildlife are abundant with the lilly pond on our front lawn being the only permanent water other than the Finniss River that they have in the area. We have hundreds of wallabies, goannas, frill necked lizards and plenty of bird life. Our pet Red Tailed Black Cockatoo "Butt" attracts the local wild ones, because she is happy they trust us so you can get closer to them than usual for photos. We have toilets and showers set up, the showers are cold water direct from the bore which meansminimum ground temperature so around 30 degrees not really cold at all. There is also a large wood fired BBQ in the same central area. The fish filleting table and boat cleaning area is also nearby. The local kites and other raptors including sea eagles and if you are lucky may see a wedgetailed eagle come in for fish scraps. Croc and dingo area - be aware! We are on the narrowest piece of land between the Finnis River and the Bynoe Harbour so although unlike my neighbours I haven't encountered crocs on the property I'm well aware that they would cross it. The dingos are heard at night as they pass through the area so we request that all food and scraps are kept out of reach as we don't want to encourage them...The pool is a magnet to children and adults alike, it is very old so we request that care and respect be exercised. Each afternoon we gather on the deck for happy hour with the drink of your choice. This is a lovely relaxing end to the day sharing camping adventures and learning about other's lives on the road and often at home too. This is generally Butts photo session and she can be a poser. It's a memory of your stay unique to here as Redtailed Black Cockatoos are generally shy but our Lady is happy to stand on your shoulder and even sqwauk in your ear if she's being difficult. We allow fires in pigs or other ground fire pits as well as the large bbq. We have a few fire pits that you may borrow. This is governed by fire conditions of course and usually we follow the local rating .

Hillier Hideaway

Hillier Hideaway is a beautiful 5-acre property located 2 minutes from Coolalinga Central. With 4 well shaded, spacious sites this is the perfect place to pull up and explore Darwin and its surrounds. Sites are not visible from the road and there are no dirt bike tracks or open land adjoining the property, making this a very secluded and safe site. We can accommodate vans up to 24 feet and have 1 dedicated site for either a camper trailer or tent. All sites have no power or water, so you will need to be fully self-sufficient. There is however a single shower and toilet for use if needed. There is a dump point at the Caravan Park across from Coolalinga Central that can be used for a small fee. All sites are well maintained with plenty of shade, please note during the dry season the grassed area will die off. There will be areas allocated for small campfires and guests must follow fire bans as the restrictions come up. There are wild peacocks that come in at dawn and dusk to get their daily feed, guests are welcome to come watch, Burdekin ducks and possums at night. Pets are allowed however dogs must remain on a lead as there is allot of wildlife that call the property home.

Darwin is the gateway to the amazing Kakadu National Park. There are many popular waterfront areas with several beaches and green areas like Bicentennial Park. While sightseeing, make sure you visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, displaying Southeast Asian and Pacific art. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are some good fishing and mountain biking spots. We are located on a 5-acre block on the edge of town. The top 2 acres are laid out in a tropical garden setting, with the other 3 acres set out with native Darwin plants visited by lots of native animals and birds. You'll feel like you're a whole world away yet you will only be 2 minutes from the supermarket, 5 minutes from a large shopping centre, and 15 minutes from Darwin's CBD. We are a small boutique site and only have currently 3 sites on the 5 acres. Your site is private and you will be able to enjoy your stay without interference from others. IMPORTANT: Each site can accommodate 2 adults MAX. If you have 3 or 4 adults, you will need to book both sites. Please note Pool site is open all year round and has permanent cover. For most of the year it is open for swimming. There are also several other smaller water holes nearby. Most water attractions are accessible by car. If you do have a 4WD be sure to go off-road to visit the amazing, less accessible sites.

No shower facilities The block is within a short distance to Berry Springs Nature Park, a popular swimming hole also shops, a pharmacy, doctors, hardware store, petrol station and tavern. We have friendly cows and donkeys to pat and lots of bird life to see or photograph. Power and water can be made available. You are welcome to collect fallen timber for firewood from the property.
